The Society of Urodynamics Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU) winter conference takes place in Miami, Florida February 26 through March 2, 2019.

Conference attendees include clinicians who are interested in expanding their knowledge and furthering their understanding of the pathophysiology and treatment of pelvic floor disorders. Attendees will:

– Network

– Attend panel discussions and keynote addresses

Review research abstracts and posters on conditions that impact the lower urinary tract and pelvic floor

Larry Sirls, MD, of Comprehensive Urology will be presenting a poster on Friday March 1, 2019 titled “PCR Based Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) Analysis Compared to Traditional Urine Culture in Identifying Significant Pathogens in Symptomatic Patients.”

Physicians regard traditional urine culture as the gold standard for the detection and identification of pathogens. However, evidence has been accumulating to support the use of molecular methods such as PCR in identifying organisms associated with symptomatic cystitis.

Comprehensive Urology conducted an IRB-approved study utilizing the PCR multiplex technology that is a part of the GUIDANCE™ UTI test by Pathnostics. Dr. Sirls will discuss the findings of this research study and will be available for further questions.

Poster Presentation Details:

– Date: Friday, March 1, 2019

– Time: 4PM

– Location: Versailles Grand Ballroom, Level 2, Mezzanine Poster #M30

GUIDANCE™ UTI delivers personalized therapy options that work the first time. GUIDANCE™ UTI rapidly identifies pathogens using a molecular assay and then characterizes antibiotic resistance. Antibiotic resistance is determined by detecting the presence of antibiotic resistance genes, along with utilizing a patented pooled phenotype sensitivity analysis.  The GUIDANCE™ UTI test offers physicians therapy options for patients suffering from recurrent/persistent UTI’s, prostatitis, and interstitial cystitis.
