Respiratory Pathogens Test
COVID-19 and Co-infection
Use molecular technology to differentiate the virus that causes COVID-19 from Flu and other respiratory viruses.
Like other common respiratory tract infections, Influenza and SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, share similar signs and symptoms. Additionally, co-infection with SARS-CoV-2 and other respiratory viruses, including influenza and RSV, has been described. It is estimated that SARS-CoV-2 co-infections may occur in 20.7% of patients.
The Pathnostics Respiratory Pathogens Test is a highly specific and sensitive multiplex PCR for the nucleic acid detection of SARS-Cov-2, Influenza A, Influenza B, or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Using one nasal swab, our Respiratory Pathogens Test will help providers diagnose patients and give appropriate therapy options.
Co-Infection Between SARS-CoV-2 and Other Respiratory Pathogens Occurs in 20.7% of Patients
A recent study shows that 20.7% of those who test positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, also test positive for other respiratory pathogens, including Influenza and RSV.*
Among patients who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, 5.2% also tested positive for RSV. Notably, the mean age of these patients is 52.3 years of age.*
